Say hello to one of Equita’s amazing partners:
Down to Earth Parenting
Tanya Swezey Stabinsky, Founder/CEO
Tanya partners with Equita to provide advice for programs supporting training trainers and promoting hands on teaching of the entrepreneurial spirit through their STEAM programs.
Her life’s work includes her governance work as Executive Director of Children’s Center of the Stanford Community, founding a model relationship base Early Child hood program in Palo Alto California, being a Mentor Teacher for the California Early Childhood Mentor Teacher Program and now more recently writing about her parenting and teaching reflections for her new enterprise: Down to Earth Parenting.
Tanya’s passion is reflective practice work with teachers and parents and her expertise is visionary leadership of LLCs and non-profits benefiting children and families through best practice.
Tanya has over 25 years experience teaching and directing early childhood programs, including campus child care, community based programming and parent cooperatives, and relocated to Phoenix in 2013 to serve as an Early Care and Education Inclusion Coach for Southwest Human Development.
With a BS in Human Development and masters work in counseling psychology, Tanya is also a parent of 5, a graduate of two infant family mental health programs; including being a Fellow of the University of Massachusetts Boston Infant-Parent Mental Health Post-Graduate Program in Napa, CA. Tanya is also endorsed as a 0-5 Transdisciplinary Mental Health Practitioner in California.
Tanya’s visions for parenting are based on the work of Dr. Peter Fonagy of London’s Tavistock Center who coined the idea reflective functioning; Fonagy says “reflective function is the uniquely human capacity to make sense of each other”. Tanya’s goal is to support parent, teacher and child capacity for reflective functioning.
Tanya’s protégés can be found working both nationally and internationally, most recently a mentee opened the first developmentally and play based international preschool in Kampala, Uganda. Tanya partners with Equita to provide advice for programs supporting training trainers and promoting hands on teaching of the entrepreneurial spirit through their STEAM programs. Tanya connects with former parents and colleagues locally, nationally and internationally through her blog posts.
